Air India's First Airbus A350-1000, VT-JRO, Spotted in Full Livery at Toulouse

Air India's ambitious fleet modernization program reached a new visual milestone today as the airline's first Airbus A350-1000, registered VT-JRO, was spotted at the Airbus final assembly line in Toulouse (TLS). The aircraft was seen sporting Air India's distinct new livery, marking the latest phase in the carrier's wide-body expansion.

The sighting of the aircraft, bearing the Manufacturer Serial Number (MSN) 719, confirms that the largest variant of the A350 family is progressing through its final production stages. Initial reports from aviation enthusiasts and plane spotters suggest the aircraft was seen with its engines installed, a key step towards its first test flights.

The A350-1000 is part of Air India's landmark order for 470 new aircraft, which includes 20 of the A350-1000 type. While Air India has already taken delivery of several smaller A350-900 models, the A350-1000 will be the airline's longest-range and largest capacity passenger aircraft, poised to operate ultra-long-haul routes.

While the delivery of Air India's first A350-1000 is not expected until 2026, according to earlier reports, the current visual progress suggests production is on schedule. The aircraft is anticipated to feature a new, bespoke premium cabin configuration, potentially including a First Class offering, further enhancing Air India’s appeal on competitive international routes to destinations like the US and Europe.

The introduction of the A350-1000 will be a crucial step in Air India's transformation under the Tata Group, aiming to offer a consistent, world-class product across its growing global network.
