The Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA) successfully concluded its 58th Annual General Meeting (AGM) yesterday, January 4, 2026, at The Soaltee Kathmandu. The landmark event brought together industry leaders, government officials, and tourism stakeholders to chart a bold new course for the nation’s travel sector under the theme of Excellence and Sustainability.
The meeting served as a critical platform to address the evolving landscape of global travel, with a specific focus on making Nepal a more accessible, competitive, and environmentally conscious destination.
KATHMANDU, NEPAL – As Nepal prepares for the massive "Nepal-ASEAN Tourism Year 2026," leading adventure outfitter Nepal River Runner has fired the starting pistol on the whitewater season. The company officially launched its 2026 Fixed Departure lineup today, featuring a rugged selection of multi-day expeditions and adrenaline-heavy runs across the country's most legendary river systems.
With the tourism board predicting over 1.1 million arrivals this year, the river industry is bracing for a "bigger, bolder, and wetter" season. Nepal River Runner, headquartered in the heart of Thamel, is positioning itself at the forefront of this surge with dates covering everything from the early spring thaw to the wild winter flows.
On the first day of the English New Year, the streets of Kathmandu, particularly around Basantapur Durbar Square and Maitighar Mandala, were transformed into a vibrant display of cultural pride as thousands of people gathered to celebrate the 13th National Topi Diwas. The morning began with a cultural rally organized by the Jagaruk Yuwa Abhiyan Nepal and various other youth groups. Participants, largely comprised of the younger generation, marched while donning the traditional Dhaka Topi and Bhadgaunle Topi (the iconic black cap from Bhaktapur), many also wearing the full national attire—Daura Suruwal for men and Gunyo Cholo for women.
KATHMANDU – The grounds of Kantipur English High School in Dhumbarahi were transformed into a vibrant winter wonderland this past Saturday, December 27, as the school celebrated its highly anticipated Winter Festival. Marking 40 years of excellence, the institution hosted an event that drew a massive crowd, exceeding attendance expectations.
The festival, which kicked off at 10:00 AM, saw a high volume of footfall from students, parents, alumni, and local residents. With free entrance for all, the community gathered to enjoy a day filled with festive cheer, entertainment, and a wide array of activities.
The 19th edition of the Elephant and Tourism Festival officially commenced today in Sauraha, a premier tourist destination in Chitwan.
The festival, held at the playground of Baghmara Buffer Zone Community Forest in Sauraha, will run until Dec. 28 (Poush 13). Chief Minister of Bagmati Province, Hon’ble Indra Bahadur Baniya, inaugurated the event.
