NEPAL INTENSIFIES TOURISM PUSH IN KEY INDIAN MARKETS FOLLOWING SUCCESSFUL TRADE FAIR PARTICIPATION

Kathmandu, October 9, 2025 — The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), in collaboration with a large delegation of private sector travel and tour operators, has successfully concluded a series of high-impact promotional activities in India, reaffirming the country's commitment to revitalizing tourism from its largest neighboring market.

The recent participation in the India International Travel Mart (IITM) in various cities, including Ahmedabad, saw the Nepali delegation, comprising the NTB and over a dozen private tourism companies, actively showcase Nepal's diverse offerings. The focus was on promoting not just the traditional mountain and adventure tourism but also cultural circuits, wellness retreats, and the rapidly growing community homestay network.

"India remains a vital source market for Nepali tourism," stated a spokesperson for the NTB. "Our strategy is to reach different segments of the Indian traveler. Events like IITM provide an indispensable platform for our operators to conduct B2B networking and introduce new, tailored packages focusing on everything from pilgrimage tours to luxury trekking."

A significant recent development underscoring this commitment was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Nepal Association of Tour & Travel Agents (NATTA) and the Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO). This agreement aims to foster a dynamic partnership to boost two-way tourism flows, emphasizing joint marketing campaigns, information sharing, and coordinated participation in major trade shows.

The concerted effort follows a strong promotional start to the year, with Nepal making its presence felt at other key international events like ITB Berlin and TTF Chennai. With an ambitious plan to welcome more international visitors, the Nepal tourism industry is leveraging these platforms to position the nation as an accessible, safe, and diverse destination for culture, adventure, and spiritual enrichment.

Private operators are reporting a positive response, indicating a growing interest in post-pandemic travel experiences that offer authenticity and connection, a niche where Nepal’s community-based tourism excels. The sustained focus on the Indian market is expected to drive a significant increase in tourist arrivals in the final quarter of the year.
